Los Gabrieles Reopens in Madrid
24.06.2026
Los Gabrieles, one of Madrid’s most historic cultural venues, has reopened following an extensive restoration featuring Harlequin floors.
Founded in 1907, Los Gabrieles has long been associated with flamenco, live music and artistic exchange. Over the years, the venue welcomed leading cultural figures including Federico García Lorca, Ernest Hemingway and Ramón María del Valle-Inclán, as well as celebrated flamenco artists such as Pastora Imperio, Antonio Chacón and La Niña de los Peines.
The restored venue now brings together three distinct spaces: a traditional tavern on the ground floor, an intimate live music space upstairs and a restaurant in the basement where traditional cuisine is reinterpreted with a fresh perspective.

A key part of the reopening is the venue’s renewed focus on live performance, with flamenco and jazz central to its cultural programme. The aim is to offer an intimate and authentic performance experience, reflecting the close connection between artist and audience that has long been part of Los Gabrieles’ identity.
To support this, Los Gabrieles installed a Harlequin Flexity sprung floor, providing a professional performance surface suited to the demands of live music and dance.

A Harlequin sprung floor is designed to provide performers with the support and shock absorption they need for demanding live performance. By helping to cushion landings and reduce impact on the body, it can support safer movement and help minimise the risk of fatigue or injury, while also giving venues the flexibility to configure their performance spaces as required.
The wider restoration also included the careful conservation of Los Gabrieles’ protected historic tiles, preserving an important part of the venue’s character and heritage.
As Los Gabrieles begins a new chapter, Harlequin is proud to have contributed to a space where flamenco, jazz and live culture can continue to be experienced in an intimate and authentic setting.
