In 2021 the conservatory extended its curriculum by introducing professional studies in classical dance. With this, the Head of Dance Studies, Mabel Ribas, made the decision to expand the centre with two new dance studios with a Harlequin Flexity sprung floor and a Harlequin Standfast vinyl floor.
José Carlos Martínez, director of dance at Paris Opera Ballet, also assisted when the new centre opened in Ibiza.

There are currently six teachers in the dance department, including three pianists and a teacher that focuses on musicality and the history of dance.
The Head of Dance Studies, Mabel Ribas said: “I was introduced to Harlequin in 2008 when I was looking for a new dance studio space. I was certain that Harlequin was the best option for me – I wanted the best of the best.”
The aim of the professional conservatory is to train dancers and to contribute to the progressive nature of the dance industry.

In June 2023, National Geographic hosted the National Geographic Explorers Festival in London with the help from their long-time partner e2k Events x Entertainment.
The National Geographic Explorers Festival was held at the Royal Institution of Great Britain to celebrate recent scientific research. The historic theatre style at the venue allowed for a unique viewing platform for all the attendees, creating a memorable immersive experience. The Harlequin Reversible projection grey/black vinyl floor was used to project videos onto the stage bringing the audience into the various environments and topics that were discussed.

e2k chose a Harlequin Reversible black/projection grey for the event as the projection grey vinyl absorbs ambient light and delivers a more vivid projection of images directly onto the vinyl surface.

The National Geographic Explorers Festival is an exclusive event that takes place all over the world, with previous locations including Mexico, Singapore, Hong Kong and Washington, D.C.
It is a chance to see scientists, storytellers, and conservationists discussing solutions for creating a healthier and more sustainable planet.

After three years of construction and restoration, KOKO reopened its doors in April 2022. The KOKO Founder and CEO Olly Bengough set himself a goal which was to redefine live music and entertainment by supporting and empowering the next generation of musicians.
The new KOKO features the beautifully restored Victorian theatre and the immersive new ‘Fly Tower’ experience. In addition, Olly chose a Harlequin Standfast black vinyl floor for the main stage. The Harlequin installation team completed this last year before the grand opening.

Artists such as Dua Lipa, Amy Winehouse, Skepta, Dave, H.E.R, Childish Gambino, Brockhampton, Janelle Monae and Halsey have performed at KOKO, many of whom went on to become Grammy award winning stadium acts.
Whilst KOKO has always been a favourite of the stars, the new KOKO continues its mission by creating more spaces for artists to play and livestream in the building, supporting talent on the new KOKO Radio station and through the new KOKO Foundation.

The Vienna State Opera and Vienna State Ballet needed a rehearsal space with both a sprung and rigid floor that they could use on a daily basis. In 2022 Harlequin’s technical teams from the UK, Luxembourg and Germany worked together to install Harlequin Liberty Switch at The Vienna State Opera House. This is achieved by using moving carriages which engage with stop blocks on the underside of the Liberty panels to create a rigid floor and disengage to create a sprung floor.

Sander Blommaert founded Blommaert Ballet School in 2016 and since then he has expanded his business and school by opening a home studio space where he offers one-to-one tuition.
For his new home studio, Sander chose a Harlequin Flexity sprung floor finished with a Harlequin Cascade performance vinyl top surface.

Sander first remember’s dancing on a Harlequin floor at the Royal Ballet School. He said: “Having trained at the Royal Ballet School and danced for the Royal Ballet Company, I benefited from dancing on their Harlequin floors. I have faith in these leading dance organisations to choose the best flooring possible, and that was Harlequin. Naturally when I had my own studio, Harlequin was therefore my floor of choice.”

When Harlequin installed Sander’s new floor into his studio, Sander explained it was important that his students danced on a Harlequin sprung floor to “help absorb impact, from jumps, thereby contributing towards minimising the risk of injury and promoting longevity of the dancer’s body”.
Sander trained at the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp until the age of 15 before joining the Royal Ballet School in London. After graduating, Sander joined the Royal Ballet Company for 7 years and was promoted to First Artist. In 2016 he decided to pursue his passion for teaching which he now does full-time.
Sander’s plans for the future are to continue helping his students on their dancing journeys.
